His outstanding credentials include five years experience as Trial Attorney in the Office of the Chief Counsel for the Internal Revenue Service. Mr. Brown is listed in Best Lawyers in America (current edition) for Tax Law, and listed in Utah Business Magazine as a premiere attorney in the field of taxation.

Regarding his business planning and corporate transactions practice which includes mergers and acquisitions, his experience and successful track record have earned Mr. Brown distinctive recognition from Utah Business as a premiere attorney in the field of corporate law as well.

Experience and consummate judgment have built his excellent reputation as a real estate attorney. Consequently, Mr. Brown has been asked to give numerous lectures, including CLE lectures, to other lawyers on real estate matters including tax deferred exchanges. In addition to the credentials listed above, Mr. Brown was chairman of the Tax Section of the Bar (1981-1982) and president of the Utah State Bar (1999-2000). The Utah State Bar honored him as Tax Practitioner of the Year (1995-1996). Mr. Brown served as a member of the American Bar Association House of Delegates from 2000 to 2006.

Mr. Brown has represented numerous clients in tax disputes before the Internal Revenue Service and the Utah State Tax Commission, including representation in Utah State District and Appellate Courts, United States Tax Court, United States Federal District Court and the United States Court of Claims. Among his most notable are: Covey & Co. v. United States , 1994 U.S. District Court, LEXIS 4122, March 23, 1994; and R.F. Weyher v. Commissioner , 56 T.C. 825 (1976).

Mr. Brown is active in the community, serving on non-profit boards and providing pro bono legal services, most particularly to military personnel. His achievement and community service are highlighted by the Scott Daniels Award, which he received in 2004 for outstanding pro bono legal services to military personnel.
