In addition to his license to practice law in Utah, Mr. Kaplan is licensed in the District of Columbia, the U.S. District Court (Utah & D.C.), U.S. Court of Appeals (Tenth and D.C. Circuits), and the U.S. Supreme Court. His primary areas of practice include:
Mr. Kaplan's nationwide practice includes representing individuals and businesses in white collar crime investigations and prosecutions, as well as related civil litigation and administrative hearings. In addition, Mr. Kaplan has extensive experience advising corporate counsel as well as serving as independent counsel for internal investigations regarding the conduct, or alleged misconduct, of employees, officers, and directors. Many of the cases involve complex litigation and include tax issues, security issues, environmental healthcare, government procurement, arms export control, or other regulatory matters.
Mr. Kaplan not only has over 30 years experience in litigation, but his background includes serving as an Assistant U.S. Attorney (Washington, D.C. 1974-1978) and a Trial Attorney-Fraud Section for the U.S. Department of Justice (1979-1981). In addition, Mr. Kaplan taught, as an Adjunct Professor, at
