Sun Valley, Idaho—Rodney G. Snow, Clyde Snow & Sessions' President and Former Utah State Bar Commissioner, was sworn in as President-elect of the Utah State Bar July 14. This event follows an uncontested election in which he garnered 92 percent of the vote.

Snow was sworn in to his position by Utah Supreme Court Chief Justice Christine M. Durham at the Bar's Annual Summer Convention in Sun Valley, Idaho, along with three newly elected commission members: Felshaw King (2nd Division), John Lund (3rd Division), and Su Chon (3rd Division). Snow will serve a one-year term as President-elect of the bar beginning July 2010 after which he will serve as President of the Bar for the next year, filling President Robert L. Jeffs' position.

"I'm honored to be following in the footsteps of those before me as I serve Utah lawyers in this new capacity," Snow said. "Rob is a terrific and thoughtful lawyer with great vision for the Bar, and I look forward to working with him and the Bar commission members over the next year."

Snow was voted in as President-elect during April 2010 in the Bar's first electronic balloting involving its 10,000 members. As the second uncontested candidate since Nate Alder in 2007, he ran on a platform that emphasized the need for continued lawyer training and mentoring and the necessity of giving back to the Bar and the community.

In addition to introducing Snow and other new Bar leadership, the Convention offered Continuing Lawyer Education credits through a variety of presentations, including a discussion on federal tax issues by Snow's colleague, Charles R. Brown, and a general session address by United States Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas. They were joined by other lawyers who covered topics such as professionalism, mediation, best practices in drafting documents, conflicts of interest, and other issues related to Utah law practice.
