Katherine E. Judd, member of the Women Lawyers of Utah ("WLU") Special Projects Committee, recently helped organize a dinner honoring the First 100 Women Attorneys Admitted to the Utah State Bar. Held May 26 at The Grand America Hotel, the sold-out event honored the First 100 before an audience of the state's leading attorneys.

In preparation for this historic event, Ms. Judd joined the WLU Board and other Special Projects Committee members in devoting innumerable hours to the collection of biographical information, video footage, photos, and advice from Justice Christine Durham, Chief Justice of the Utah Supreme Court, as well as many others of the First 100. Through these efforts, they produced a special 15-minute film, "Women Trailblazers in the Law," which was featured at the event and distributed to all dinner guests with an accompanying booklet.

The dinner was the result of WLU's 2010-2011 Special Project—Women Trailblazers in the Law—which seeks to recognize and honor the women who blazed the trail for women lawyers in Utah, to tell their stories, and to help strengthen ties between newly-admitted and experienced attorneys in the state. Those involved in this special project include WLU Special Projects Committee Chair Cathleen Gilbert, WLU President Melanie Vartabedian, and WLU's Special Projects Committee Members: Allyson Barker, Carrie Boren, Emy Cordano, Katherine Judd, Heidi Kingman, Lorelei Naegle, and Carrie Towner.
