SALT LAKE CITY— Katherine E. Judd, attorney at Salt Lake City law firm Clyde Snow & Sessions, was reelected secretary of the Utah State Bar's Young Lawyers Division June 16. Ms. Judd joins President Jenifer L. Tomchak, President-Elect Kate Conyers, and Treasurer Scott C. Powers as a member of the executive board for the 2011-2012 term.

Having been a member of YLD since 2007, Ms. Judd was invited mid-term to fill the position of secretary during 2010. Following this year's election with record voter participation, she was chosen by fellow YLD members to serve as secretary once again.

"I was thrilled to be offered the position of secretary mid-term last year," she said, "and I am excited to spend another year working with YLD's dedicated members to support its mission and public services."

As secretary, Ms. Judd spent the past several months managing meetings, coordinating communication between the committees and executive board, and assisting the YLD president. While serving in this capacity, Ms. Judd said she especially enjoyed meeting others in the Division and helping create a network of supportive relationships that would better the YLD and the profession at large. Through her efforts and those of the executive board, committees, and members themselves, the Division successfully completed several projects for the community, including Wills for Heroes and the Cinderella Boutique. Seeing the fruits of their labors and the enthusiasm of the members in providing such services to the community was immensely rewarding, she said.

"I have witnessed first-hand the importance of a unified purpose in accomplishing meaningful projects and have loved working with and on behalf of the driven and active YLD members to provide public services," she said.

Aside from her commitment to the YLD, Ms. Judd serves on the Special Projects Committee for Women Lawyers of Utah. She is also a member of Clyde Snow & Sessions' Employment Law Practice Group where she provides legal solutions for local organizations and corporations and frequently writes articles on employment-related topics for the Group's quarterly newsletter, Business as Usual.
