Clyde Snow Welcomes Another Attorney to Growing Business Group, Expands Practice Areas

SALT LAKE CITY—Clyde Snow & Sessions recently welcomed Kurt O. Hawes to the firm's growing Business & Transactions Practice Group. Mr. Hawes makes the second attorney to join the Group this year, further expanding the Group's practice area offerings.

Mr. Hawes is the second attorney to join Clyde Snow's Business and Transactions Group this year, following Kevin A. Turney who brought expertise in bankruptcy, securities, business, and estate planning. With eight years of experience in tax and corporate matters, specifically state and local controversies, Mr. Hawes further expands the Group's practice offerings. He will be working closely with Charles R. Brown to aid clients in tax-related legal matters.
Mr. Hawes' state tax expertise comes from many years of litigation of state and local tax matters, at both the administrative and judicial levels, as well as general corporate litigation and service to the profession. He has helped clients with tax disputes in Utah, Idaho, Colorado, Wyoming, Washington, Oregon, and California, periodically appearing before the IRS to represent clients. He has also been involved in leadership of the Utah State Bar Tax Section, taught seminars on sales tax, and lobbied for changes in tax laws. And prior to 2005, he served as a federal judicial law clerk for the Honorable Dee Benson, Chief Judge of the United States District Court for the District of Utah.
