June 25, 2012
SALT LAKE CITY— Katherine E. Judd, attorney at Clyde Snow & Sessions law firm in Salt Lake City, was recently appointed Vice Chair of an American Bar Association Committee and reelected Secretary of the Utah State Bar's Young Lawyers Division.
An active member of Clyde Snow's Employment Law Group and the Young Lawyers Division, Ms. Judd was appointed to the ABA Young Lawyers Division as Vice Chair for the Committee on Labor & Employment Law. She will serve under the Co-Chairs as one of three Vice Chairs for the 2012-2013 term beginning in August and will participate in national conferences as well as the Touch 10,000 Program, a member-to-member outreach program designed to connect ABA YLD Ambassadors with new bar admittees.
"[Katherine] will be a key member of a dynamic group responsible for providing valuable benefits and services to approximately 130,000 members and 300 affiliated groups," said Chris Rogers, ABA YLD Chair-Elect.
Ms. Judd was also reelected Secretary of the Utah State Bar Young Lawyers Division after having served nearly two previous terms in that capacity. She joins President Kate Conyers, President-Elect Gabe White, and Treasurer Scott Powers as a member of the executive board for the 2012-2013 term.
"I'm thrilled to have the supporting vote of YLD's dedicated members both on a national and state level," she said, "and I'm excited to spend the coming year working with them to support the YLD mission and public services."
Aside from her commitment to the YLD, Ms. Judd serves on the Special Projects Committee for Women Lawyers of Utah. As a member of Clyde Snow's Employment Law Practice Group, she uses her legal expertise to construct employment handbooks and provide other related employment law solutions for local organizations and corporations. She also frequently writes articles on employment-related topics for the Group's quarterly newsletter, Business as Usual.
Ms. Judd has been a member of YLD since 2007, serving first as an active member and then an executive board member since 2010. While serving as a board member she said she especially enjoyed meeting others in the Division and helping create a network of supportive relationships that would better the YLD and the profession at large. Through her efforts and those of the executive board, committees, and members themselves, the Division successfully completed several projects for the community, including Wills for Heroes and the Cinderella Boutique. Seeing the fruits of their labors and the enthusiasm of the members in providing such services to the community was immensely rewarding, she said.
"I have witnessed first-hand the importance of a unified purpose in accomplishing meaningful projects and have loved working with and on behalf of the driven and active YLD members to provide public services," she said.
In addition to these honors, Ms. Judd has been named a "Rising Star" by Mountain States Super Lawyers, joining 10 other Clyde Snow attorneys as being listed among the best attorneys in Utah for 2012. For more information on listed attorneys, please click here.
