Salt Lake City, Utah (October 20, 2017) – Brent R. Baker, director and shareholder of Clyde Snow & Sessions, was elected Chairman of the Utah Securities Commission on October 19, 2017. Mr. Baker brings more than 23 years of securities experience to his newly appointed position and will assist the Utah Division of Securities in setting policy, adopting rules, and adjudicating enforcement actions brought by the Division.
“I am honored to have been elected by my peers to chair the Securities Commission,” said Baker. “My goal is to continue bringing a fair and unbiased perspective as the Commission assists the Utah Division of Securities.”
Prior to joining Clyde Snow & Sessions, Mr. Baker was a senior attorney at the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission and a Special Assistant U.S. Attorney for 14 years. In 2015, Mr. Baker was nominated by Governor Gary R. Herbert to serve as Commissioner of the Utah Securities Commission and is currently serving his second term in this capacity. As a member of Clyde Snow’s government and independent investigations, and white collar crime practice groups, Mr. Baker focuses on defending corporate, institutional, and individual clients in regulatory enforcement investigations and litigation before the SEC, FINRA, and DOJ, as well as other various federal and state agencies.
